- Sometimes a user wants to search for certain file or folder, but forget where they are located. Mywe file system autocompletion can help users to locate the file or folder by name.
- File system autocompletion uses partial matching search to locate files and folders based on the input text.
- Before file system autocompletion can work, file system needs to be indexed at first. Please note that indexing supports only local NTFS drives and the indexing does not index file contents. How long it takes to index the local NTFS drives, depends on the performance of the workstation.
- Local NTFS drives can be indexed via the menu item "reindex file system" in the software menu. 3 index files containing path information are created during indexing. Windows system directory is ignored during indexing automatically. Certain file types can be excluded by configuration during indexing.
- The administrative privileges for raw read access to hard drives are required for file system indexing. User needs to click accept to allow "Mywe" to continue running at start when enabled. This feature remains disabled without administrative privileges.
- File manager does not monitors file system changes to update indexes, so that "reindex file system" needs to manually invoked to index file system again. Reindexing is in most cases much faster than it was before.
- Thanks to the file system autocompletion user can quickly deliver the results without imposing a heavy burden on the system.
