- Fingertext provides tab triggered text editing and supports multiple hotspots definitions in templates.
- Hotspot (placeholder) is indicated by <default>, where default is the default value of the hotspot or can be seen as hint. Embedded hotspots are not supported. The <> is silent place holder for the tab key to jump to.
- Hotspots are triggered by tab and user can keep the default value by pressing "tab" key or replace the default value with a new value. If user does not want to change the default value, he can hit tab key to replace for example <this> with this.
- Fingertext is particularly helpful when entering variable text, such as the name in the form.
- Fingertext allows user to create customizable templates with hotspots that are filled in with custom values when the template is executed. User can easily use fingertext together with templates to build feature like a code snippet manager.
Example
The value for a template contains for example the following text:
Hello, <this> is a <test>.
After inserting this template with hotspots, <this> is highlighted and user can replace the default value with a new value. After pressing "tab" key, <test> is highlighted. When there are no hotspots any more, the caret is placed at the end of the inserted text.
